Study in Germany

This line of work is very important to me, because I am here thanks to being able to move to Germany for my education. I've studied at both private and public universities (in Berlin and Freiburg), and I'm a big advocate for the public system. I still find it amazing that regardless of where you come from, you can get a very good, internationally recognized education here at little or no cost, if you know where to look.

And the benefits don't stop at the degree. As a student in Germany you get access to subsidized housing and cafeterias, discounted transport, sports clubs, and funding to study abroad or do internships in other countries. Thanks to that, I got to study in Brazil and Hong Kong and do a six month internship in Italy. Once you graduate, you also get 18 months to look for a job here, which is a lot compared to most countries (this was a key factor in my decision to study in Germany).

When I started, there were very few programs taught in English. In the last ten years that has changed a lot, so not speaking German is not always a problem anymore. There are great options in English, in German, or a mix of both.

The catch is that applying comes with its own bureaucracy: translations, certified copies, knowing exactly what to submit and when. I learned a lot of it from my own experience, and also from supporting friends and family through the process. I enjoyed my student years so much, but I have to admit I missed out on some opportunities. Now I want to help you get all of it, without missing a thing just because you didn't know what was out there for you.

Ausbildung (vocational training)

A paid training path that combines classes with work in a company, in fields like healthcare, IT, trades and hospitality. A great option that many people from abroad don't even know about.
